DISC DRIVE

Several schools, community centers, and even an over-55 senior group have reached out to us for discs to help introduce Ultimate to new players. BADA donates discs on a regular basis, and lately the demand has been so high that we've exhausted our disc supply. Make a tax-deductible donation to support our efforts and reach more groups who want to play Ultimate—just $10 buys 1 disc! Our goal is to collect 50 discs or $600 (discs+shipping) to get more people playing. Every contribution helps spread the joy of Ultimate!

A Disc Can Change Everything

One afternoon while coaching the Alameda Monarchs high school team, I came across three kids, around 7 to 9 years old, causing trouble in the park’s public bathroom. They had turned it into a game—clogging toilets, flooding the floor, and making a huge mess.

I approached the ringleader, a young girl with a mischievous spark in her eyes, and made her an offer:
a disc and a quick lesson on how to throw, in exchange for staying out of trouble. Her face lit up instantly. She raised her hand like she was swearing an oath and declared, "I promise I won’t cause trouble anymore!"

I handed her a disc, showed them a simple throwing drill, and then went back to coaching. From across the field, I watched as they spent the next
90 minutes completely absorbed in the game—laughing, running, and playing together.

That moment stuck with me. One simple disc turned potential vandalism into joy. One piece of plastic gave three kids a new way to play, connect, and have fun. Discs have power, and we often don’t realize it.
